We strongly recommend you pre-book. You can reserve and pay for you tour online. Go to our Promenade Tours, Coastal Tours or Illuminations Tours pages and click the Book a Tour button. Online booking for a tour closes 10 hours before the scheduled departure time.

On some tours there may be spaces available on the day and instant bookings could then be made with our Inspector or on-tram Conductor at the departure stop. But we would strongly recommend pre-booking as spare seating cannot be guaranteed and, even if it were, it is quite possible that your party or family would not be able to sit together as we would have to seat you taking into account the social distancing of those with reservations.

Your booking will be confirmed by email. This email will also act as your ticket. Show it to the conductor, on paper or on your phone, when you arrive.
If you make an instant booking with our inspector or on-tram conductor on the day, you will be given a paper ticket.

The email confirming your booking should arrive within a few hours of you completing payment. This is your ticket. Please check your spam/junk folder in case your email service has put it there in error. If you are still unable to find it, please Get in Touch with us as soon as possible.

Sorry, but no. We require days notice of cancellation to be able to give you a full refund to your payment card (50% refund between 48 and 24 hours). Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time so we can safely show you to your reserved seat before departing.

In order to maintain social distancing some seats are not allowed to be occupied. The location of these changes on a tour by tour basis as we try to seat booked parties together leaving social distancing just between their party and others. But, no, we don’t like travelling with empty seats either but it is necessary to do so to keep everyone safe.

The only stop at which we are able to board passengers for Coastal and Promenade Tours is our special Heritage Tram Tours northbound stop at North Pier & Tower. It is opposite the modern tram stop at North Pier used by southbound (destination: Starr Gate) modern trams, it is on the sea-side of the tram track and a few yards up the Prom from the Tourist Information Centre and Wedding Chapel if walking toward North Pier. Illuminations Tours do not board at North Pier and Tower stop.

You can board Illumination Tours only from Pleasure Beach Heritage Tram stop. You will find a map on our Find Us page

You can leave an Illuminations tour at Bispham, Cabin, North Pier & Tower stops on the return journey if you don’t want to come all the way back to Pleasure Beach with us but that will then be the end of your tour. You cannot reboard and continue your tour or a later one once you have left it.

Promenade and Coastal Tours do not board at Pleasure Beach stop.

We use a mix of Illuminated and Heritage trams. The booking system will show which type of tram is allocated to each tour.
You get a great view of the Illuminations from the top deck of our Double Deckers!

We had started a major refurbishment on the Western Train in the early part of the year and some standard maintenance work on the others. It was all due to be finished in time for the Illuminations switch-on but, when the coronavirus lockdown forced us to furlough the engineering staff, no further work could take place on them. The Western Train was literally in pieces! Although the engineers have now returned to work, it has significantly delayed completion of the work. They have been included in our schedules for October onwards and can now be booked online.

Yes. It is a legal requirement that all passengers have to wear a face covering unless they have an exemption. If you would like to read more on this subject, please go to this page on the Blackpool Transport web site.

The conductors and drivers on the modern trams and buses are not able to make bookings for our Heritage Tram Tours. This can be done online from this website or, if seats are available, by our Inspector at the tour departure stop. Bookings are not available via the Blackpool Transport app.

Our inspectors can accept cash and contactless credit/debit card payments for instant booking tickets but only when unbooked seats are available.
Our conductors can accept cash only for the purchase of the limited supply of face masks that we carry (£1 each) should you forget your own. Tickets cannot be purchased onboard the trams.

Yes if space is available for them, however they must be folded.

Unfortunately due to the age, design and historic nature of our trams there is a high step to board all of our trams, this is between 12 and 16 inches (30 to 40cm) above the ground, there is often one further step inside the tram of around the same height.
Our staff will help as much as they can with boarding but we are unable to provide direct physical assistance.
We can accommodate a folded wheelchair.
The Illuminated Western Train tram has a wheelchair lift and one wheelchair space on board, we aim to operate this tram every evening during the Illuminations subject to availability. The Western Train will not be available for service until October 2020 due to over-running engineering work.
The modern trams are fully accessible and offer step free access and wheelchair spaces for those unable to board our Heritage trams.

No. We do not have room to store bicyles on board.

Well behaved dogs are welcome on our trams – but not on the seats please. On busy Tours it may be necessary for them to occupy the space at your feet.
There is no additional charge.
Pre-booking is not necessary for dogs.
