Tramtown - Guided Workshop Tours

Over the last few months we have been working hard to bring back the depot tours for 2024 and for this year we are doing things differently but still offering that unique experience of behind the scenes here at Rigby Road.

Ever wondered what a wheel lathe and a welding bay and forge looks like then look no further, our tour guide will take you through our Heritage Fitting Shop so you can see all the equipment that our engineers used to keep the wheels moving on our famous heritage trams.

Please note at this time the tour is restricted to our engineering workshop and does not include access to the main tram shed which is currently closed however trams can be viewed from outside the safety barriers along the depot front.

The whole experience will last 60 minutes.

Tramtown Revealed

Tramtown, was the name chosen in 2022 for our tram heritage centre project with the ambition of providing a stable and secure future for our beloved heritage trams, a unique and very key ingredient in Blackpool’s tourism offer.

The overwhelming and success of our first year of depot tours has proved what an attraction we have. In parallel, our volunteers have made the site more welcoming. Soon major changes will be taking place, and a very interesting time is ahead. Our success with the depot will also be a leader in helping regenerate the local area and support the local community.
