Heritage Centre - Guided Depot Tours

Ever wondered how our famous Heritage Trams make their way on to the tracks? Well now you can see the inner-workings of our Heritage Tram Centre and hear just how we keep the wheels turning on our wonderful world-famous Heritage Trams.

You’ll be guided around our tram sheds and engineering workshops by one of our resident experts who will talk you through each area and the work we’re doing to preserve our history for years to come.

All money collected from our unique tours will contribute to the preservation of our trams for future years. Our fundraiser explains our challenges and ambitions for the future.

Family Depot Tours

Brand new to 2022, give your children a history experience they’ll remember for a lifetime! Our Family Depot Tour gives the whole family a chance to not only get to see the home of our  Heritage trams, like the popular Western train and Rocket Tram, but also experience what it is like to ride these vehicles, by sitting in the driver’s seat!

Each of these trams has a unique story about their past, some are up to 90 years old and one is over 120! As you’ll imagine, they’ve had quite a life and you can enjoy stories told by our tour guides about our special vehicle’s past, present and future.

The 45-minute tour will capture different aspects of our Tram depot, diving behind the scenes to see what makes a tram tick whilst exploring all the work you don’t usually see. You’ll explore our tram shed, which houses over 40 different heritage trams. This is a history lesson to ‘WOW’ the whole family!

Recent Activity

Tramtown Revealed

We recently unveiled a new name for our Heritage Centre, titled Tramtown, as our ambitions to create a Visitor Centre take a step forward. Our aim is to raise funds to restore the depot roof, create a heritage tram centre to allow the public to visit the site and to use the depot as a leader in helping regenerate the local area and support the local community.

Community Clean Up Events

We recently held volunteer clean up events on 24th August and 9th September with over 20 volunteers including Cllr Paul Galley, Blackpool Transport Chair, volunteers from Blackpool FC Community Trust, and many more. The team tackled everything from weeding to painting and rubbish disposal. The cheerful painting is set to continue as we carry on our efforts to brighten up the area. Thank you to all who gave up their time to kickstart our makeover!
